BMW group annual sales fall on weak demand in China, Germany

(Reuters) – BMW (ETR:BMWG) posted a drop in annual sales on Monday, joining its German peers in reporting numbers weighed down by economic weakness in China, the world’s largest car market, and Germany.

The German premium carmaker sold 2,450,804 cars in 2024, representing a 4% decline on the previous year.

In China and Germany, year-on-year sales dropped by 13.4% and 5.3%, respectively.

However, the battery electric (BEV) segment saw annual sales grow by 13.5%, reaching 426,594 units in 2024.
